hey all!

completing the 101 and I quadruple checked the switches for different type of floors and should be ok but in Cube only plays "dirt" no matter what. I can see it from the capture log.

apparently it's an "old" issue that happened with older versions of Cube but I wonder if this hasn't been fixed by the Audiokinetic team on the latest version?

I'd love to know if it's a know bug in Cube so I know what I've done is correct and I can move on.

thanks!! <3

Hey Alessandro,

I just checked it by following the steps, and it works just fine for me. I'd suggest deleting Cubes SoundBanks and regenerating them, checking the Wwise project you've got open is in the correct relative location and that nothing else in your Events is setting the Switch.

If that does not work, could you tell me what version of Cube do you use specifically? Wwise 2021.1.3? And does it work when you open the complete Cube Wwise project from the launcher and generate SoundBanks?

Let us know if you get it to work.

Hey Mads!
thanks for reaching out and glad to know it works on your end!
It means I'm missing something somewhere
WWise Version is "1.0.40 (2021.1.4.7707)"
I just re-did everything from scratch just now and I can still hear "dirt" as the only surface that gets triggered.
this is what I've done
1- created a switch group, renamed it "Material" and created subsequent switches
2- imported audio folder as a switch container
3- assigned Footsteps to the Material switch group and set Concrete as default surface
4- assigned the folders to their respective switches (concrete - concrete, dirt - dirt etc..)
5- tested it on the transport bar and switches do work
6- created an Event "Foot_Player"
7- assigned the Footsteps switch container to the Foot_Player event.
8- generated soundbank

soundbank path is "/Applications/Audiokinetic/Wwise 2021.1.4.7707/Cube/cube/soundbanks"

super cuuuuurious to know where the culprit is!
This seems correct. Honestly, I don't think it's a problem with how you do it, but more the setup you've got.

Here are a few things I would try to fix it.

1) What happens when you assign concrete to all switches? If you still get Dirt, you are somehow not affecting the game, and therefore the SoundBanks you generate are not registered by the game, which would lead me to try...

1a) Did you make sure to put your lesson Wwise projects inside the Cube folder? Like this:
https://www.audiokinetic.com/courses/wwise101/?source=wwise101&id=installing_wwise_101_course_project_files
If so the SoundBank path in the Wwise project should be "..\..\..\cube\soundbanks\Mac" (since you are using mac right?)
Best way to make sure this works, is to delete them and regenerate to see if it then works.

1b) Do you have any other Wwise versions installed with Cube? If so, maybe you added the Wwise projects to the wrong Cube version?

2) In your capture log, search for "Material". If all of these are dirt, then yes something is wrong with your game. In that case, I'd normally ask you to report it as a bug in the launcher, but because I already checked it, I'd say we cannot replicate it and you should try reinstalling the game.
hey Mads!
thanks again for your support.
there's one mismatch that might be interesting
1- the "Generating a Soundbank" Lessons says that the SB path should be this
"Applictions\Audiokinetic\Wwise 2021.x.x.x Cube\cube\soundbanks"

but if I generate one (an both platforms are selected: Mac-English) it won't create the Mac folder so all the SB content ends up in the Soundbanks folder.
this way Cube is dead silent.

so I made the Mac folder myself and updated the path to
Applictions\Audiokinetic\Wwise 2021.x.x.x Cube\cube\soundbanks\Mac

this way Cube plays the sounds but I still get the same issue.

before I tackle assigning Concrete to all surface I guess is important to know if this alone might be causing trouble

thanks!

PS: already tried reinstalled everything (both Wwise and Cube) last week yup.
hello you were able to fix this issue? I am having this same problem right now, footsteps just will sound for concrete,  or just the default value I put on the default switch/state, over the sound property editor. I don't know how to fix it, I'm using wwise and cube version 2022.1.6
