Creating Markers dynamically in code?

Is it possible to create a marker while an event is playing though the API?

Could you give more details.  For example, what kind of marker? Wav file markers?

Yeah, wav file markers would be fine.
I have a file that is 1min long.
While the file is playing, i want to keep track of certain events happening in the game and store their time of occurrence, related to the files playing position at that moment.

Then later I want to use the markers in the file to retrigger game events.

We would be interested in this functionality as well, for subtitles. It would keep our audio engineers from having to worry about which strings go with which wavs/times and authoring markers manually.
