Hello,

I'm trying to make wwise work in surround mode. I have a motu express 6x6 for the moment, so I set the two main outputs to the front L & R and the two line outputs to the rL & rR. I tested also with nuendo and white noise from the midi audio setup, but only the front L & R are working.

from what I see on the front panel of the audio interface, when I try to move the sound source from the L & R to the rR or rL (both in 2D and 3D configurations) the audio stops coming out. it seems like there is some sort of connection problem between wwise and the audio interface, given that using other sources or softwares (nuendo or white noise) the audio interface works perfectly.

what I did was simply setting the 5.1 system in the midi audio setup preferences, then switching to 5.1 in the audio drop-menu in wwise.

am I missing something?

One solution is to use virtual routing software e.g. Voicemeeter Banana, and select this as your system's output device. This will then interpret wwise's multichannel output and send it to the discrete analogue outputs of your interface.

CRUCIAL part of the process is to go into control panel and set Voicemeeter to be surround output. You potentially need to then change some configuration with your interface setup, but when you play something out of wwise, you can check in voicemeeter if there are multiple channels of audio as expected - from here it's a case of making sure your interface is working correctly.

Some further clues that could be helpful on this blog post.
