Hi everyone,

I am following the lesson 1 of Wwise. It's very easy. The shotgun sound works properly in Wwise, etc.  But I have one problem: when I shot in Cube, there is not the blast sound. When I generate, in the Generating Soundbank windows, all is fine, I have only this message at the Created column : "Up to date" (and not "Created").

I precise that, following the advise of a professionnal, I have deleted all the contents of the supplied soundbank to be sure that Cube is silent when I import sounds.

I am running on PC.

Thank you very much for your help,

I'm working on the Mac (Sierra) platform and I had the same problem and I think I just figured it out...

The problem is with Lesson 1, the instructions tell you to delete the Soundbank folder, then when you get to the Generating Soundbank section, it asks you to "Generate" the folder in Cube-cube_soundbank... Unfortunately, now there's no soundbank folder anymore! What it should say is either delete the contents of Soundbank_Mac folder or create another soundbank folder or soundbank_Mac folder.

When I click the "Generate" button, it just dumps the (Init.bnk, Init.txt, Main.bnk, Main.txt, Plugininfo.xml, SoundbanksInfo.xml) data files into the cube folder (or whatever destination is selected). The thing to do now is manually create the Soundbank_Mac folder within the Cube_cube folder and dump those data files in there. Restart Cube and you're good to go.

Another possible workaround is to create a folder called Soundbank_Mac )in the Applications_Audiokinetic_Wwise 2016.x.x.xxxx_Cube_cube folder), then "generate" sound bank in that Soundbank or Mac folder.

The first time I tried "Generate" a soundbank, it created a soundbank folder but never wrote a "Mac" folder (with properties) within soundbank folder. It seemed to have operated differently today but it still didn't trigger the shotgun sound in Cube. I started from scratch today but had different results, no Soundbank or Mac folder and properties ended up in the selected folder Cube_cube or Cube_cube_Mac, it was very confusing. Another problem is the diagram shows the arrow pointing to the "Windows" (...) for selecting destination folder, and it was a little confusing at first, an alternate pic (or explanation) for Mac users might help there.

Maybe it's a weird thing with Sierra or I missed something but I literally followed the instructions word for word, then tried alternatives, and it just never worked. This time I saved the original Cube Soundbank file to compare and noticed that "Generate" wasn't doing what it was supposed to regarding creating the Soundbank_Mac folder.

Hope this helps.
I'm having a similar (or same) problem, though I'm on windows.

I follow the tutorial and generate a soundbank in a folder called Windows in the Cube_cube folder here:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Audiokinetic\Wwise 2016.x.x.xxxx\Cube\cube\soundbanks

but when I restart cube from the wwise launcher I still get no sound. Mine generates the Windows folder for me, like yours did NOT the first time, so that makes me think everything is already working properly, I'm just missing something.

Any ideas? I'm about to just start from scratch and see what happens.
Hi, I am having the same issue with cube tutorial. At the end of Lesson 2, after hours of trying to get it to work, I've finally managed to get the shotgun with the shells etc. generating into the SoundBank file. It is still not playing in the game. I've tried the remote connecting and when I capture it sometimes comes up with 'media/child selected not available' while others it doesn't. Total newbie at this and teaching myself with this tutorial, if there is any way you can help it would be really appreciated, thanks
Hey so i was frustrated for almost an hour trying to figure this exact thing out. Turns out i just reinstalled Wwise and it worked. Hope that helps.

Jerome,

Potential reasons:

  • You haven't selected the right platform in the SoundBank Manager
  • The version of Wwise is not matching the version of Cube.
  • Your SoundBank path might not be matching where Cube is installed. Go in the "Generated SoundBanks" folder and look at the date of the banks to see if it's updating when generating SoundBanks.
  • Cube is installed in a folder that is read-only (so Wwise can't generate the SoundBanks there).
Hope this helps,

I faced the same issue, and later realized that it was because I deleted the folder "Windows" under C:\Program Files (x86)\Audiokinetic\Wwise 2022.1.3.8179\Cube\cube\soundbanks.

Delete only the contents inside the Windows folder, and ensure the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Audiokinetic\Wwise 2022.1.3.8179\Cube\cube\soundbanks\Windows remains.

Doing this helped me fix the missing ice gem blast sound when I generated a new soundbank in Lesson 1.
