So Ive imported quite a few audio files into the Wwise LIMBO project. I made sure to import them and choose to replace the existing audio files, and I have ensured that I have checked off the "Use" toggle on the desired audio files. The files can be previewd with no problem at all, however no matter how many times I attempt to generate or update a new soundbank, None of the new sounds play back during LIMBO gameplay. When I go to edit the sounds durring gameplay, I am only editing the original gameplay sounds.

I read through the LIMBO project PDF time and time again but now I am at a loss. I cant help but feel like im missing something small. I have even gone as far as importing my new audio files into a new LIMBO project on a different computer.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! :)

Hi,

The classic problem when SoundBank generation doesn’t work, or when you don’t hear the sounds you added to the SoundBanks, is that Limbo and the Wwise project are under C:\Program Files (x86)\Audiokinetic\Wwise v2013.x.x build xxxx\Limbo (the default path when installing Wwise and Limbo) which flags all the files as “Read only”.  To overcome this problem, you have two choices:

  1. ‘Run Wwise as an administrator’
  2. Move the Limbo folder elsewhere on your drive (e.g. C:\) and get rid of the “Read only” flag on all files

The second approach has the advantage that you’ll never forget to run Wwise as an administrator.

Hope this helps,

Simon

if you've managed to import the files properly then you're already past the 'run as administrator issue'. I think the problem is you haven't generated the soundbank before connecting to Limbo and trying out the sound. After you've made your changes, Press F7 to bring up the soundbank manager, right click on the default work unit soundbank and generate soundbank for current platform. After that try connecting to the Limbo.exe and see if your sounds are there.
