File limit when importing audio/MIDI in a Mac session

I'm running into file limit using the 'add files' button of the import audio/MIDI dialogue on Mac.    This seems like a bug.  
When importing using the 'right click, import, add files' and the standard import audio dialogue box, there seems to be a file number or size limit each time the 'add files' button is used.  For example if a click 'add files' then select more than 7 audio files or more than 20 MIDI files, those files simply don't show up in the import dialogue.  All works fine when add less than those numbers, so it means using the 'add files' button several times when importing large numbers of files.    (as a workaround I use the drag and drop from finder method and that works without any file limit per drag/drop)
