Hello,

I'm quite new to WWise and I was hoping that I would be able to open and convert .wem files into .ogg or .mp3s and vice versa. I've tried several other programs and haven't had much success.

I am trying to rip the .wem files from Killing Floor 2 (runs off of UE3) and make a mod for the game, but I cannot even get past the first step of opening the files.

Referencing https://www.audiokinetic.com/qa/568/any-way-to-find-out-what-a-specific-wem-file-is - I tried opening the .wem files in the Wave Viewer and I got the following error: "Invalid Header"

I tried converting .wem files to .ogg using a third party tool before I found WWise and opening the converted files in Audacity would crash the program. However I was able to open the files in Foobar2000 and could play them, but they displayed that they had "0 second durations".

If it's possible, can I open a .wem file, convert it into an .ogg or .mp3 and then convert it back into a .wem?

If the answer is so simple that it's laughable, I'm sorry for the inconvenience as I'm a complete imbecile when it comes to figuring things out sometimes and would really appreciate the help.

Thank you ^^

Hi Vince,

You will not be able to load wem or bnk files in a DAW or sample editor. If the game you're trying to mod has loose Wwise bank files, you would need to create a new Wwise project and build new banks with the correct names and correct events which the game will call.
