How to set Occlusion radius?

Hi Folks!
Occlusion is calculated by Line trace between Sound Emitter and Listener's Eye,
And, What problem is,
Sound Emitter is infinitely small spherical emitter dot.
and when Listener sees the dot, Occlusion is adapted for 100 or 0.
Is there any idea for sound cutting off abruptly due to this occlusion calculation method?
Is Using Diffraction and Transmission loss the only way to reseolve this?
