Stop Event works in Unity Editor, but not in build.

Tried making the event global, referencing the game object, among many other things, and unfortunately it doesn't work--that is, it works in the editor but not in the build. I'm posting the event in the exact same way as I would a play event, but i'm making sure every time it targets the GameObject in question, and doing so always leads to it working in the editor but not in the final build. Version number 2024.1.0
