Hello Wwise community!

I'm in the middle of going through the Wwise certifications and when I started and installed Wwise for the first time it was on version 2022.1.6.8263. Now months later, there's a new version available, 2022.1.7.8290.

My question is surrounding the best way to update this. When I initially installed this I chose to install all packages, some of the deployment platforms, and all of the plug-ins. I think it was around a 20GB install which is precious space on my finite HD. Now for the update, I'm not sure if I do select all of these things again (it prompts me to do so and won't let me continue without selecting something), if it's smart enough to not duplicate all of these things, thus adding another 20GB to my HD. One would assume it IS smart enough, BUT when I select all the same things again, it says the total install size is 20GB and when selecting all the plug-ins I don't have enough space on my HD. The point is, if it won't duplicate all these things, then I have more than enough space on my HD for the update. What's the best practice when updating Wwise?

Hey there,

AFAIK, wise does not update old authoring tool version you have installed. It just installs a new one. A bit annoying, yeah. My workflow for it is to install a new version, check if my project works correctly with it, and if it does, delete the old one.

Cheers
