Can't get access to connected microphones if "Unity Audio" is disabled

Hello!

When following this tutorial on how to post audio input through Wwise: LINK
 

It seems that Unity Audio needs to be disabled in order to get the connected microphone devices. Is it possible to do this withouth disabling Unity Audio? It feels a bit scary to enable Unity Audio since this is disabled by default when integrating Wwise into Unity.

Very grateful for any help I can get! :)
