My last game release used Wwise 2016.2. I am about to start working on sound for the sequel.

The game should use several tracks from the original. Unfortunately, my composer died a couple years ago, and all I have access to is the bank file (not whatever Wwise source files created it) and some WAV samples.

So I’m looking for some general advice on how to deal with the situation (given 2021.1.8 is current). I know that there’s no guarantee a major version reads old files.

Can my composer extract information from the old .bnk file? (To create a new bank with the current Wwise.)

Is it reasonable for them to create a 2016.2 bank file (so that I could load both files at run time)?

Any other suggestions for how to use my existing music and SFX, which are in an old .bnk?
