ShareSets Tab

The ShareSets tab of the Project Explorer displays a complete list of ShareSets organized into Work Units. You can create and manage your ShareSets and their corresponding Work Units in this tab. Included in the Effects section is a list of Factory Effects that ship with Wwise.

You can navigate through the different folders and Work Units by clicking the plus (+) and minus (-) signs to expand and collapse the various folders. The ShareSets tab also includes a toolbar that allows you to quickly add ShareSets, Work Units, and folders to your project hierarchy.

Interface Element

Description

(Toolbar)

Displays one or more icons representing the project elements that can be added as a parent or child of the selected node in the project explorer.

By default, the toolbar displays all project elements that can be added as a child of the selected node. To display the possible parent project elements, press the Shift key.

To add a child to the selected node, simply click one of the active icons in the icon bar. To add a parent to the selected node, simply Shift+click one of the active icons in the icon bar.

Different icons will become active depending on the type of object you currently have selected in the hierarchy.

[Note] Note

The listed Audio Devices are sink plug-ins created by third parties or by developers using the SDK's sink plug-in framework. While they are organized like other ShareSets, they are only available to those who have created and/or incorporated these plug-ins into Wwise. Correspondingly, there is no toolbar icon. Instead, from the shortcut menu of any Work Unit in the Audio Devices section, select New Child. Under the Work Unit and Virtual Folder options, all available Audio Device plug-ins are listed. These ShareSets are also automatically added to the Init.bnk file.

[Tip] Tip

Refer to the SDK documentation to learn more about how to develop Audio Device plug-ins.

Virtual Acoustics

A complete list of Virtual Acoustics ShareSets sorted by Virtual Folders and Work Units for your project. Virtual Acoustics, for now, consist only of Acoustic Textures. These textures work with the Wwise Reflect plug-in to represent different material properties. These properties, such as frequency absorption, simulate the impact of different materials on early reflections.

For example, an anechoic material would have 100 for every field, meaning there would be absolute absorption and, thus, no reflections. On the other hand, a more reflective material such as concrete would typically reflect a fair bit and, as such, would have a much smaller amount of absorption (say, 10 to 30%) for all frequency bands, with the percentages tending larger for higher frequencies. Other materials, such as certain varieties of wood, might generally reflect less than a concrete; but, could have a greater percentage of frequency absorption for lower frequencies.

Double-click the Texture to open the Acoustic Texture Editor.

For Effects and Audio Devices:

Inclusion

Determines whether the element is included or excluded. When selected, the element is included. When unselected, the element is not included. By default, this applies across all platforms. Use the Link indicator (to the left of the check box) to determine or to set platform-specific customizations.

When this option is unselected, the property and behavior options in the Property Editor become unavailable.

Default value: true
