Presets are a specific set of property values, related to an object or Effect, that are saved into a special file so that they can be reused at a later time within the same project. By using Presets, you don't have to recreate particular property setups that you want to reuse for other objects in your project. All you have to do is set up the property values once, save the Preset, and then apply it to the other objects in your project. You will save time and effort by working more efficiently.
