Version
Open Associated REAPER Project is a REAPER scripts package that makes it easy to open the REAPER project associated with the source WAV file of a Sound SFX in Wwise. Open Associated REAPER Project uses the metadata embedded in the source file to locate the project and time offset of the source.
Open Associated REAPER Project is available in the Audiokinetic Reaper Tools Repository and is installed using the ReaPack package manager.
Minimum version of REAPER: v6.80
Before rendering files in REAPER, ensure your rendered files will include the required metadata:
From the REAPER menu bar, click File > Project Render Metadata.
In the dialog that opens, select the following:
Embed title/date/time if not provided
Embed start offset (media position in project)
Note | |
---|---|
If you use Strata and implemented the Recommended REAPER Settings, you will have Calculate and embed peak/loudness values selected as well. You can leave it selected. |
Note, the following steps are only required if you are working with non-Strata projects since Strata subprojects are configured with this metadata by default.
From the Scheme list, select IXML. Then double-click the Value field in the User Defined row, type trackName=$track, and press Enter.
A new row is added to the table.
Click OK to close the dialog.
From the REAPER menu bar, click File > Render.
In the dialog that opens, select the Metadata check box, and then click Save Settings.
You must use the ReaPack package manager in REAPER to install Open Associated REAPER Project. If you have already installed ReaPack and Audiokinetic’s Reaper Tools repository, you can proceed to step 4.
Go to ReaPack: Package manager for REAPER to download ReaPack. Refer to the ReaPack User Guide for installation instructions.
After ReaPack is installed, from the REAPER menu bar, click Extensions > ReaPack > Import Repositories.
In the dialog that opens, enter the URL of Audiokinetic's Reaper Tools repository (https://github.com/Audiokinetic/Reaper-Tools/raw/main/index.xml) and click OK.
From the REAPER menu bar, click Extensions > ReaPack > Browse packages.
In the dialog that opens, right-click OpenAssociatedReaperProject and select the version you want to install.
In the lower-right corner of the dialog, click Apply.
The OpenAssociatedReaperProject package is downloaded and moved to the REAPER OpenAssociatedReaperProject Scripts
directory.
From the REAPER menu bar, select Actions > Show actions list.
In the Actions list, select Open Associated Reaper Project_Install Wwise Command.lua and click Run.
If Wwise is open, close and restart it.
The custom command Open Associated REAPER Project is added to the shortcut menu of all Sound SFX objects in Wwise and your REAPER projects root directory is configured.
Note | |
---|---|
If you change your REAPER projects root directory, rerun the action. |
In Wwise, right-click a Sound SFX object that has a source WAV file that was rendered in REAPER. Then click the Open Associated REAPER Project command.
The REAPER project associated with the Sound SFX opens and the timeline is positioned at the beginning of the source region.
If REAPER is not running when you execute the Wwise command, the track view might scroll back near the top-left corner if other windows are docked to the main window.
The Open Associated REAPER Project command is not available in the shortcut menu of Sound SFX objects in Wwise:
You must restart Wwise after installing the command.
The Open Associated REAPER Project command opens REAPER but does not open the REAPER project associated with the WAV file:
Open Associated REAPER Project depends on a new feature added to REAPER in v6.80. Make sure you have this version or later.
Open Associated REAPER Project needs the start offset and title metadata embedded in the rendered file. Make sure Embed title/date/time if not provided and Embed start offset (media position in project) are selected in the REAPER Project Render Metadata dialog before rendering files.
The Open Associated REAPER Project command is added to the shortcut menu of all Sound SFX objects in Wwise, including those whose source WAV file was not rendered in REAPER. Ensure the source WAV file of the Sound SFX object you selected was rendered in REAPER.
