Version
There might be times when you’re auditioning Strata library renders in REAPER’s Media Explorer and you find a sound that’s close to what you want, but you’d like to modify it to better suit your needs. While you could figure out which subproject that sound comes from using the sound’s metadata or the audio file’s path, with the Strata_Open associated Strata project from selected audio file.lua
ReaScript, you can open the associated Strata project with one click.
The script uses the render’s metadata to determine which Strata project to open, along with the region and track to focus on after opening the project. To find the project, the script searches the directory tree, in reverse order, starting at the location of the render.
You must use ReaPack to install the script. If you have already installed ReaPack and Audiokinetic’s Reaper Tools repository, you can proceed to step 4.
Go to ReaPack: Package manager for REAPER to download ReaPack. Refer to the ReaPack User Guide for installation instructions.
After ReaPack is installed, from the REAPER menu bar, click Extensions > ReaPack > Import Repositories.
In the dialog that opens, enter the URL of Audiokinetic's Reaper Tools repository (https://github.com/Audiokinetic/Reaper-Tools/raw/main/index.xml) and click OK.
From the REAPER menu bar, click Extensions > ReaPack > Browse packages.
In the dialog that opens, right-click Strata_Open associated Strata project from selected audio file and select the version you want to install.
In the lower-right corner of the dialog, click Apply.
To confirm the installation was successful, in the REAPER menu bar, select Actions > Show actions list. The script appears in the Actions list under the Media Explorer section.
After Installing the Script, you can add a button to the Media Explorer toolbar that triggers the script.
To add the Open in Strata button:
From the REAPER menu bar, click View > Media Explorer.
The Media Explorer opens.
Right-click the Media Explorer toolbar and then click Customize toolbar.
The Customize menus/toolbars dialog appears.
In the upper-left corner of the Customize menus/toolbars dialog, select Media Explorer toolbar from the list.
Right-click in the left pane under the last item in the list and click Insert action.
The Actions list appears.
In the Actions list, select Script: Strata_Open associated Strata project from selected audio file.lua. Click Select at the bottom, and then close the Actions list.
The new item appears at the bottom of the left pane of the Customize menus/toolbars dialog.
By default, the new item has the name of the script. It’s quite long, so it would be truncated in the button. To rename it, right-click the item and then click Text icon.
In the New name: field type "Open in Strata", select the Double-width toolbar button check box, and click OK.
In the lower-right corner of the Customize menus/toolbars dialog, click OK.
The new button is added to the Media Explorer toolbar.
To use the new button, select a Strata render in the Media Explorer file list and click Open in Strata. The associated project opens. The cursor is placed at the beginning of the corresponding region, and the vertical scroll position of the Track View is set up so the corresponding track is at the top.
