Logs View

The Logs view displays all Wwise information, warnings, and errors within five tabs:

Open the Logs view from:

Across all its tabs, the Logs view has a standard layout of columns and buttons, described in the following reference table.

Interface Element

Description

Opens a search field where standard alphanumeric entries filter out unmatching elements from the view. Learn more in Using tables.

Click the Close icon to the left of the search icon to close the search field and remove the filter.

[Note]Note

The searches do not include elements in collapsed nodes of the List View, Query Editor, MIDI Keymap Editor, and Reference View.

Severity

Displays an icon indicating the severity level:

  • : For general messages, generally not impacting the integrity of the current operation.

  • : For warnings, potentially impacting the integrity of the current operation.

  • : For errors, impacting the integrity of the current operation.

  • : For fatal errors, impacting the completion of the current operation.

[Note]Note

You can change the severity of most messages that appear in the SoundBank Generation and the Conversion logs. For more information, refer to Managing messages that appear in the logs.

Time

You can double-click a project element to load it into its editor.

Copies the information to the clipboard so that you can paste the information into a new file.

General Tab

The General tab keeps a record of Wwise core-system related issues, covering such things as Command Manager, custom property, Layout Manager, plug-in, and Theme Manager problems.

Project Load Tab

The Project Load tab keeps a record of Wwise project issues reported in the Opening and closing projects. Often, these are general information messages about migration to the current project version. However, issues can appear for XML errors and a variety of possible project inconsistencies.

SoundBank Generation Tab

The SoundBank Generation tab logs information about issues or potential issues that were found during the generation process. Some of the types of issues you might encounter are as follows:

  • The custom post-generation executable can't be found. In this case, the custom post-generation step that you specified will not be performed.

  • A generated SoundBank references data or media in another SoundBank that is not being generated. In this case, the referenced SoundBank will automatically be generated.

  • If media files are duplicated in more than one SoundBanks. This is just a warning to help you find and remove the duplicated media files.

  • If a sound object references a media file that cannot be found in any of the generated SoundBanks. In this case, the sound object will not be playable in game.

  • If a SoundBank contains a reference to an Event or object that has been unloaded from the project. In this case, you can resolve the problem by loading the corresponding Work Units back into the project.

  • SoundBank names have a 252-character limit. The limit is evaluated when generating a SoundBank, which is written to disk within your project hierarchy's full file path. If that path exceeds your operating system's limit, then generation will fail with error 14: Can't write bank file. See Understanding file length limitations and naming conventions.

Conversion Tab

The Conversion tab keeps a record of issues reported in the Log panel of the Conversion - Completed dialog.

If Wwise encounters any issues while converting the audio source, such as an empty or invalid file, it will display information about them in the Conversion Log at the bottom of the dialog.

WAAPI Tab

The WAAPI tab keeps a record of all issues encountered in the use of the Wwise Authoring API. These include connection, server, and validity issues. See Configuring the Wwise Authoring API (WAAPI).

Ignoring Log Entries

If you no longer want specific warnings or messages to appear in a log, you can add these warnings and messages to the Log Ignore List using the Project Settings dialog. For more information, refer to Managing messages that appear in the logs.

For the General, Project Load, and WAAPI logs, click the View Settings icon to open the Logs Settings dialog, where you can select the messages you want to ignore.
