Wwise Unreal Integration Documentation
Release Notes 2022.1.6.8263.2748

Each version of this integration matches a specific build of Unreal Engine. Here is what has changed in the 2022.1.6.8263.2748 release of the integration (in addition to upgrading to the new Unreal build).

Note:
This integration does not support experimental Unreal Engine features.
Note:
This integration was compiled against Unreal Engine version 4.27, 5.1, and 5.2. It was tested against Unreal Engine 5.2. Any major Unreal Engine version more recent than the aforementioned is not currently supported, but will be in a subsequent patch release.

New Features

  • WG-62841 You can now easily synchronize Unreal Assets with Generated SoundBanks. Refer to Reconciling Wwise UAssets for details.
  • WG-65812 Logs now provide the reason why the null SoundEngine is used instead of the Wwise SoundEngine.
  • WG-66200 Added basic compilation support for pre-released Unreal 5.3.
  • WG-66220 All memory-related stats are now grouped under the Wwise/WwiseMemory stat. Also added Wwise SoundEngine Reserved memory statistics.

Behavior Changes

  • WG-64598 Added AK_ENABLE_ASSERTS on non-Release builds.
  • WG-64601 Moved AssertHook to WwiseAssertHook function in WwiseSoundEngine.

Miscellaneous Changes

  • WG-66542 Unreal Wwise Integration requires Audiokinetic Launcher 2023.1.1 or later.

Bug Fixes

  • WG-60465 Fixed: Wwise plug-ins cannot be found or registered on iOS, tvOS, and Switch.
  • WG-61013 Fixed: The front and back Room names of Portals are not displayed when the Visualize Rooms and Portals user setting is enabled.
  • WG-66131 Fixed: Opening the Wwise Browser without a WAAPI connection causes log spam.
  • WG-66136 Fixed: Crash when providing null object to GetAkAudioTypeUserData.
  • WG-66189 Fixed: Selecting a folder in the Wwise Browser with the same name as another folder sometimes selects the wrong folder.
  • WG-66232 Fixed: Possible freeze or crash when I/O Hook Open erroneously calls the callback twice for Write operations.
  • WG-66429 Fixed: Loading invalid or missing Wwise files keeps them internally referenced.
  • WG-66466 Fixed: Renaming an asset with the same name as a Wwise item creates an erroneous association in the Wwise Browser.
  • WG-66472 Fixed: Full path of the Platform SoundBanks is not logged when it is not found.
  • WG-66474 Fixed: Logs don't give enough information when Wwise project has no JSON file.

Fixes for Community-Reported Bugs

  • WG-60514 Fixed: Assert if requested frame size changes while using AkAudioMixer. This will now return an error.
  • WG-63893 Fixed: UAkGameplayStatics::ReplaceMainOutput terminates when receiving an AK_INVALID_UNIQUE_ID.
  • WG-64185 Fixed: WAAPI subscriptions are not cleared if Wwise Authoring is connected to a game for live editing.
  • WG-64323 Fixed: UAkAudioEvent::ExecuteAction terminates when no playing ID is received.
  • WG-64838 Fixed: External Sources: source missing from PostEvent call with localized sources.
  • WG-65131 Fixed: Crash in WAAPIClientConnectionThread when running in unattended mode.
  • WG-65433 Fixed: Crash on invalid EditorListener when starting a Play in Editor session.
  • WG-65514 Fixed: Deadlock when tearing down the StreamMgr module.
  • WG-65834 Fixed: Lack of detail in logs when current platform data does not exist.
  • WG-66342 Fixed: (Spatial Audio) When using AK::SpatialAudio::SetImageSource with AK_INVALID_AUX_ID, sounds with no Early Reflections Auxiliary Send assigned erroneously send to the same aux bus as other sounds, playing on the same Game Object, that do have an Early Reflections Auxiliary Send assigned.
  • WG-66360 Fixed: Assets are reloaded twice at launch, preventing to start always active event on start with "-game". Added delegate on full asset reload.
