Copying State Values Between States

If you want to use similar State values for many States, you can define the settings once and then copy the State values to other States. The following sections describe the two methods available:

Copying State Values to States in Any State Group

Using this method, you can copy and paste State values between different State Groups and between different object types, including between the Master-Mixer, Actor-Mixer, and Interactive Music Hierarchies. You can also select multiple target objects and paste values to all targets at the same time.

To copy State values to any State:

  1. In the States tab of the Property Editor, select the State whose values you want to copy.

  2. Right-click and select Copy in the shortcut menu (or press Ctrl+C).

  3. In the States tab of the target object, select all the States to which you want to copy the State values.

  4. Right-click and select Paste in the shortcut menu (or press Ctrl+V). Repeat steps 3 and 4 for as many target objects as you want.

The State values are copied to the target object(s). You can now customize the copied content as desired (refer to Customizing State Properties for Objects).

    [Note]Note

Any properties that were customized in the source but not the target are copied to the target. All State values for properties customized in the target but not the source are set to 0 or disabled.

Copying State Values within the Same State Group

Using the Copy State Values dialog box, you can copy the values of a State to an existing or newly-created State within the same State Group. You can also choose which of the objects associated with the State Group will be affected by the source's State values.

To copy State values within the same State Group:

  1. Click the Copy State Values button from one of the following views:

    • States tab in the Property Editor.

    • Mixing Desk.

The Copy States Values dialog box opens.

You can also right-click a State and select Copy State Values from either the States tab of the Property Editor or from within the Mixing Desk.

  2. Click the State Group field's Selector button (>>) and select the State Group that contains the State whose custom properties you want to copy.

  3. Click the From field's Selector button (>>) and select the State whose custom properties you want to copy.

All objects that subscribe to the State Group are displayed in the Affected objects list.

  4. Click the To field's Selector button (>>) and then do one of the following:

    • To copy the custom properties to a new State, select New, specify a name for the new State, and then click OK.

    • To copy the custom properties to an existing State, simply select the State from the list.

Wwise determines what action to take for each object in the Affected objects list.

  5. In the Use column, select the check box for each object where you want to use the new State settings.

  6. Click OK to apply the State settings to the selected objects.
