An Evil Head hovers with incredible speed towards the Adventurer, and she turns to yield a deathly swipe with her sword. She starts swinging but is suddenly interrupted by a Spit Bullet hitting her from behind. Numerous sounds were playing at the same time, unfortunately, the Spit Bullet had lower priority than the remaining voices and was therefore not played. The Adventurer is always quick and ready, but not even she can evade threats that she isn’t aware of.
The importance of sound is often determined upon what game it is. In a game where a torch is the key element in solving a quest, the torch sound could be essential to finding it, but in WAG the torch sound is only a minor atmospheric detail.
Wwise has a built-in priority system, which manages whether a voice should stay physical or should be sent to virtual voice. Setting your priorities of audio structures is essential to having well-functioning virtual voice behaviors and you’ll now learn how to set playback priorities.
