Reflect is an insert plug-in generating dynamic early reflections based on the emitter and listener's proximity to the surrounding reflective surfaces. This geometry-informed early reflection Effect is complemented by Effects such as RoomVerb or AK Convolution Reverb, which cover the late portion of the reverberation effect.
Action Item:
Walk in the Room while listening to the footsteps or tennis ball launcher sounds to compare the effect of static vs dynamic early reflections, set in the In-game Menu’s Sound Options > Early Reflections option.
Make sure Wwise is connected to WAL, then look in the Game Object 3D Viewer (in the Game Object Profiler layout, opened with F12) to see the Room’s surface reflectors (the walls) and the rays bouncing off the reflectors for each early reflection generated by Reflect.
What to Expect:
Take some time to identify the early reflection portion of the signal in both static and dynamic early reflections. You should notice how much more natural it sounds when the early reflections are generated dynamically. It also adds a subtle level of additional randomization to the sounds as the position of the listener in relation to reflective surfaces is constantly changing.
