WAL was developed using Wwise and the Unreal Engine. The Unreal Engine project comes with pregenerated SoundBanks that allow you to play with the audio in WAL. If you want to modify the sound design in Wwise, you can regenerate the SoundBanks in Unreal Engine.
You might also want to explore the Unreal Engine project, or even modify it, to learn about the Wwise Unreal Integration.

The Wwise Audio Lab uses the AK Convolution Reverb, Mastering Suite, and Reflect plug-ins. These plug-ins are included in the pregenerated SoundBanks. However, if you want to modify the Wwise project and regenerate the SoundBanks to hear your changes in Unreal Engine, you must install these plug-ins with the appropriate version of Wwise and they must be properly licensed. To obtain these licenses, go to Register a Project and indicate that it is a non-commercial project with more than 200 media assets. Specify that it is for WAL. |
To modify the Wwise project:
In the Audiokinetic Launcher, select Samples > Wwise Audio Lab (Unreal).
Under INSTALLED VERSIONS, click the Open in Wwise button to the right of the desired WAL version.
The WAL Wwise project opens.
Modify the Wwise project as desired and save your changes.
To regenerate the SoundBanks:
Under INSTALLED VERSIONS, click the Open in Unreal button to the right of the desired WAL version.
WAL opens in its associated Unreal Engine version. This might take a few minutes.
In the Unreal Engine menu bar, click Edit > Project Settings. Then select Wwise > User Settings and set the Wwise Windows Installation Path or Wwise Mac Installation Path to the location of your Wwise installation.
In the Unreal Engine menu bar, click Build > Generate SoundBanks and then click Generate. As noted above, you will need licenses for some plug-ins used in WAL.
Press the Play button in the Viewport. Explore the WAL to hear your changes.

You might experience significant lag in the WAL project if you barely meet the Unreal Engine minimum requirements. To mitigate this, use low settings for your Graphic Options. |
