Reverb Zones

Description:

  • Reverb Zones can be used to uniquely specify spaces within Rooms without Portal connections. This allows for the seamless and dynamic transitioning of background ambiences and defined auxiliary sends between the defined spaces. AkReverbZone requires AKSpatialAudioVolume to be specified as the Parent Spatial Audio Volume. This allows for sound propagation between them as if they were the same Room.

  • Reverb Zones use the Outside auxiliary send for Reverb. There are three:

    • The Ak_SAV_Exterior AKSpatialAudioVolume defines the Football Field ambient background that is heard throughout the map when not inside a Child Reverb Zone or after entering a Portal.

    • The AMB_Town AkReverbZone is oriented around the buildings and provides a dense city-like ambient background.

    • The AMB_FountainTree is oriented around the trees and fountain and provides an ambient background that includes the rustling of leaves.

Action Item:

  • From the football field, walk to either the town or tree areas and listen to the transition between ambient backgrounds.

What to Expect:

  • You should notice how the ambience changes depending on your proximity to the town or tree areas. The ambient backgrounds should dynamically transition between areas of the outdoor locations.
