Profiling the Wwise Audio Lab

With either the precompiled or uncompiled WAL running, you can open the WAL Wwise project and connect to WAL. While connected, you can gather data through a Capture Session. This is a good starting point to discover the Wwise project structure and learn about the sound engine’s behavior.

To connect to WAL and capture data:

  1. In the Launcher under INSTALLED VERSIONS, click the Open in Wwise button to the right of the desired WAL version.

The WAL project opens in Wwise.

  2. In Wwise, connect to WAL via the Remote Connections dialog.

  3. Start a capture.

The Game Object 3D Viewer, the Advanced Profiler, and the Voice Inspector are great tools that help you understand the voice flow.

While profiling, the Reflect Effect Editor shows the different image sources currently playing as cursors on top of its curves. This helps you fine-tune its series of attenuation curves that modulate over distance as well as diffraction angle. Refer to the Wwise Help for more information on Reflect

Additionally, the Audio Object Profiling Layout presents information about Audio Objects while profiling to help you understand the flow of Audio Objects authored in the WAL across the following views: Audio Object List, Audio Object 3D Viewer, Audio Object Metadata, and Audio Object Meter.
