Adding Metadata Columns to REAPER Media Explorer
All of the BWF audio files in Strata contain embedded metadata. All subproject
files are configured to embed metadata for all audio file formats that REAPER
supports.
You can view the metadata in the REAPER media explorer. However, you must add user
columns to view and search the complete embedded metadata. Refer to Recommended User Columns for a list of
metadata that might be useful.
To add columns to the REAPER media explorer:
In the menu bar, click View > Media
Explorer. The media explorer opens.
Right-click any column header, then click Add user
column. The Add Metadata Column dialog opens.
In the Key text box, type one of the recommended user columns. For
example, the ASWG:Category entry adds a category metadata column.
In the Description text box, type an appropriate name, such as
Category.
Click OK. The column is now visible in
the media explorer.
In the media explorer, select the <Project Directory> in the folder
hierarchy at the left of the window. The subproject files appear in the file
list.
Right-click one or more audio files and click Re-read metadata from media. The metadata appears in the new
column for the selected files.
In REAPER’s Render to File > Metadata window,
you can see a complete list of all fields that you can add as user columns in the media
explorer. Strata projects have ASWG, BWF, INFO, XMP, and IXML:USER metadata fields that
can be embedded in .wav files.
The ASWG Schema supports embedding metadata in .wav, .flac, and .mp3 files,
and includes fields specific to the UCS that are used in the Strata collection for all
audio file names.
The following list of user columns is recommended for Strata users.
