The Combat Callouts collection includes two subprojects. The Callouts subproject features male and female groups expressing war cries, agony, screams, hurrah, death, pain, fear, and celebration. They were recorded in ORTF Stereo, which produces a wide stereo image.
Using crowd control track envelopes, the Callouts subproject can sonically morph in real time from a five-member crowd to a huge crowd of 1640 members. The tracks are further enhanced by Additional layers that add weight, distortion, and phattening. These exaggerate the crowd's aggression and morph the perceived size from huge to hoard. The Cinematics layer adds drama with different situational impulse response reverbs of forests and stadiums, and even more phattening.
Mixing and processing of all 160 tracks can be controlled with the crowd control track envelopes. This subproject is set up to render 631 variations of the various expressions.
The Single Voices subproject includes five male and five female individuals set up to render 1935 variations of onomatopoeic expressions and common English phrases.
The complete list of all sounds, associated data, and embedded metadata is available in the accompanying Combat Callouts SoundBook.
