Recommended User Columns

In REAPER’s Render to File > Metadata window, you can see a complete list of all fields that you can add as user columns in the media explorer. Strata projects have ASWG, BWF, INFO, XMP, and IXML:USER metadata fields that can be embedded in .wav files.

The ASWG Schema supports embedding metadata in .wav, .flac, and .mp3 files, and includes fields specific to the UCS that are used in the Strata collection for all audio file names.

The following list of user columns is recommended for Strata users.

Metadata Field Description

ASWG:fxName

UCS field. A brief description or title (fewer than 25 characters).

ASWG:creatorId

UCS field. Name of the sound designer, recordist, or vendor. In Strata, this value is AKB00M by default.

ASWG:sourceId

UCS field. The name of the individual Strata collection.

ASWG:vendorCategory

UCS field. Optional head extension of the FXName block that vendors can use to define specific collection categories. For example, specific names of firearms, vehicles, locations, and so on.

ASWG:project

REAPER project name.

ASWG:catID

Abbreviated category or subcategory, as defined by the UCS list.

ASWG:subCategory

UCS field. Subcategory name, for example, ANTIQUE.

IXML:FILE_UID

A unique value to identify the file, created from a formula in the REAPER project metadata, generated when the file is rendered.

IXML:USER:Explanations

UCS field. A brief explanation of the sound.

IXML:USER:Synonyms

Other words commonly used to describe the sound.

IXML:USER:Library

The name of the individual Strata collection.

IXML:USER:Track

The number of the track in the REAPER project from which the file originated.

IXML:USER:TrackTitle

The name of the track in the REAPER project from which the file originated.

IXML:USER:Manufacturer

Vendor name often mapped in SFX libraries to the UCS CreatorID.

IXML:USER:OpenTier

Used in Soundminer for additional hyphen-separated categories.

IXML:USER:Notes

User notes, usually blank in Strata.

ASWG:category

UCS field. The top-level category, for example GUNS.

ASWG:userData

UCS field. Optional data that a user might want to add, such as a revision number.

ASWG:userCategory

UCS field. Optional data that a user might want to add, such as a UserName or ProjectName.
