As new major and minor versions of Wwise are released, you might want to update your Integration package to use a newer version of Wwise.

The following upgrade procedure assumes:

• You already have a Unity project containing a Wwise Integration package for an older version of Wwise.
• You have already installed a newer version of Wwise, including the Wwise SDK and all deployment platforms supported by your existing integration.

Unlike other Unity plug-ins, you must leave the previous Wwise Integration package installed in order to upgrade it to a newer version.

The upgrade is a two-part process. First you need to update your Wwise project for the new version of Wwise you want to use, and then you need to do the same with your Unity project.

1. Update your Wwise project:
   1. In the Launcher, select the Wwise page.
   2. Launch the newly installed version of Wwise.
   3. Open your existing Wwise project.
   4. Click Update when prompted to update your Wwise project to the new version of Wwise.
   5. After the update is finished, generate your Wwise SoundBanks.
   6. Save the Wwise project.
2. Update your Unity project:
   1. Updating the Unity project for the new version of Wwise is done using the Launcher. Refer to Upgrading or Modifying an Integration Package in the Launcher documentation for details.

Upgrading from a Version of Wwise Prior to 2021.1.1

If you are upgrading to Wwise 2021.1.1 or later from a version of Wwise prior to 2021.1.1, you must ensure the JsonSerialize package is active in the Unity project. Otherwise the upgrade will fail. This can be accomplished in either of two ways:

1. Activating the package in the Unity package manager.
   • The package is located in the Built-in packages list.
2. Adding "com.unity.modules.jsonserialize": "1.0.0" to the list of dependencies in Packages/Manifest.json.
   • Open and close the Unity project after making this change to ensure the package is properly added to the project.
