Understanding a View's Title Bar Icons

Views can have a series of icons on the right side of the title bar. Each icon performs a different command related to that view. Depending on the view, different combinations of these icons will be displayed. The following table describes each of the icons that can be found in the title bar of a view.

Icon

Name

Description

Save Preset

Saves the current state of all values within the current view to a Preset.

Load Preset

Loads a previously saved Preset.

Selection Channel

Syncs the view to a particular channel (1-4). When used in the Project Explorer or Event Viewer, you can sync multiple instances of these views across multiple layouts. Choosing the same Selection Channel for multiple instances of either the Project Explorer or Event Viewer means that any selection or movement made in one instance of the view is automatically made in the other instance(s)

When this option is used in other views, the view is synced to a particular channel of the Project Explorer or Event Viewer. This means that any object selected in the Project Explorer or Event Viewer on that channel is automatically displayed in the synced view(s).

Refer to Understanding Selection Channels and Meter Instances for further details.

Help

Displays the Reference Topic related to that particular view, window, or dialog box. The Reference Topic could be either online or offline, depending on your documentation settings. Refer to Setting the Documentation Preferences.

View Settings

Displays a dialog box with a series of settings that define what is displayed in the view.

Close View

Closes the floating view.
