The sound engine reacts differently to 'out of memory' conditions depending on when the condition occurs. The following table describes what happens when memory is missing during a series of different scenarios:
Scenario |
Result When Memory Missing |
---|---|
Initializing the sound engine |
The initialization fails. |
Loading a SoundBank |
The SoundBank load fails. |
Starting a transition for a property, such as volume |
The transition is skipped and the parameter jumps directly to the target value without transition. |
Playing a sound |
This depends on whether the Memory Threshold has been enabled in the initialization of the Sound Engine. By default, the Memory Threshold is disabled. In this case, the playback will simply fail. If the Memory Threshold is enabled, then the priority rules will apply. It is highly recommended that you enable the Memory Threshold feature. |
