Understanding Stingers

Throughout the map, the Wwise Wwizard moves through a series of teleporters. The teleporter already plays a sound effect, but it would be nice to have a musical accent that accompanies this as well, such as a quick cymbal swell. You could use the teleporter Event to immediately play a simple cymbal swell in the same way it triggers a teleport sound effect, but more than likely the cymbal swell wouldn’t match the timing of the music that’s also being played. Ideally, the cymbal swell would reach its apex on a musical beat. While you can’t control if the player moves through the teleporter on beat, you can incorporate the use of Stingers to delay the music just enough so that it plays at a more musical time, such as the next beat or bar. Stingers aren’t an actual object in Wwise. Instead, a Stinger is a designation given to Music Segments that include additional instructions on how the Music Segment should synchronize its playback with other Music Segments.
