Importing Multiple Files to Music Sub-Tracks

For the bass line, there were two different audio files placed on separate Random Step Sub-Tracks. While you can’t directly designate the specific Sub-Track you want an audio file to go to, you can import multiple audio files in one step. The resulting clips will be placed on the first Sub-Track, one after the other, where they can then be easily moved to the appropriate Sub-Track.

[Note]

In theory, the guitar parts for both the A and B section should step through the variations together as they both have an equal number of variations, organized the same way, from no guitar to the most intense guitar. It’s possible as you’ve played the two Music Segments directly for them to be out of sync, so that when you play the Combat Music Playlist Container, the intensities between the two segments don’t match. At runtime this will not happen because both segments will be reset.

  1. In the Project Explorer, right-click the Combat-B-Bass1 Music Track and click Import Audio Files, then click Add Files, and then select the Combat-B-Bass1 and Combat-B-Bass2 files.

  2. Click Open and then Import.

The Combat Main Bass Music Track is displayed in the Music Segment Editor.

Now you can drag the second clip to the beginning of the second Sub-Track.

    [Note]

If you drag the second clip down to the second Sub-Track and then drag to the left, you’ll see crossfade curves displayed, even though the clips are on two tracks. When you let go, those crossfades will be removed.

  3. Drag Combat-B-Bass2_138bpm4-4_L8M-P0 to the beginning of the second Sub-Track.

You can use the same approach for the guitars. Because you used Combat-A as a template, the Combat-B-Gtr1 track is already configured as a Sequence Step Sub-Track. Remember that for the guitars, the track is configured as a Sequential Step Sub-Track, where the first Sub-Track is the one that’s left empty.

  4. Using the same process used in the last step, import and arrange the three Gtr tracks.

Now you need to do the same for all of the remaining melodic instruments in the Combat-Main-B Music Segment.

  5. Repeat the previous steps for the remaining Music Tracks in the Combat-B Music Segment.

Now you’re ready to listen to your work and get familiar with how this new combat part sounds. It’s not yet configured within the Combat Music Playlist, so you’ll need to directly play the Combat-B Music Segment.

  6. Select the Combat-B Music Segment and play it several times to hear the variation.
