-
Connect your MIDI control surface to your computer.
-
Launch Wwise and open a project file. Make sure you open the Module 17 project file.
-
Connect to Cube so you'll be able to test your changes in the game.
-
From the Wwise menu bar, click Project > Control Surface Devices.
-
In the dialog that opens, click Add.
-
Name the device My Controller, and click OK.
A new entry is created. By default, the device type is set to MIDI, meaning that the device transmits or receives conventional MIDI messages, which is what you want for basic parameter control. You now need to associate the actual hardware device for the entry you just named. Since you’re only going to be transmitting MIDI information from the controller to Wwise, you only need to select the device in the Receive From column.
-
Select your control surface in the Receive From list.
The Status column indicates that the device is connected and you’re ready to proceed.
If no device appears in the list, save your project and restart Wwise. For demonstration purposes, an Arturia BeatStep control surface was used; however, any recognized MIDI or Mackie control surface will work.
