SoundSeed Solution Overview
SoundSeed is an ever-growing family of cross-platform, interactive sound generators for game audio. Each module within the SoundSeed family uses a specific technology that has been adapted to the particular requirements of each type of sound. Although different technologies are used, the end result is the same: a reduction in memory usage with the freedom to create rich dynamic audio content.
The SoundSeed family consists of the following modules:
- SoundSeed Air: This module uses parameter-based synthesis to generate convincing aerodynamic sounds, including wind and woosh-type sounds. SoundSeed Air is a pure parametric synthesis technology that does not require any wave files to generate audio. It has the potential to produce hours of none-repeating ambiances using virtually no runtime memory.
SoundSeed Air consists of two source plug-ins for Wwise: Wind and Woosh.- SoundSeed Air – Wind: The Wind plug-in generates wind sounds as they pass through and around objects, including seamlessly looping exterior ambiences, aircraft engines, and other air displacement-based special effects.
- SoundSeed Air – Woosh: The Woosh plug-in generates the sounds made as an object passes through the air, including close combat swooshes, bullet fly-byes, and other motion sounds.
- SoundSeed Impact: This module uses modal synthesis techniques to generate an unlimited number of sound variations from a single audio file. SoundSeed Impact consists of two components — the standalone SoundSeed Impact Modeler and the SoundSeed Impact effect plug-in for Wwise. SoundSeed Impact is ideal for creating impact-type sounds, such as sword clings, footsteps, and various hit and shock sounds.
